It is with special regard I now contemplate my first Mother's Day as a mother.
When my husband and I decided to have a baby, it was with conscious thought and spiritual intention. We knew we would be creating and bringing into life our Love.
With that intention [and affirmation], we conceived our son within a few days of our agreement to create Life. Then, he was born and I became a mother in a fuller sense of the word.
I protect and nurture, cuddle and hold, nourish and nurse. I get to be the person who calms his cries, sees his joyful smile in the morning, and gets hugged regularly by his little arms. His face is like a cup full of wonder and his body and soul seem to be constantly stretching to bring more of the world to him. I am a Mother.
And as a newly appointed member of the "mommy club", I thought I would research Mother's Day. Turns out, our modern day observance is mostly based on a daughter honoring her mother who died [something that as a Medium I understand].
Here is an account of the origins and subsequent history of our modern Mother's Day: http://www.theholidayspot.com/mothersday/history.htm
My own mother has been [and still is] my best teacher. Her amazing love and support is a comfort in all times. I honor her, her intuitive and compassionate ways, and creative soul.
Special blessings to the Mothers this day!
