Featured Speaker 8-28-2017 at LD Auditorium

On Monday August 28th, I will be the Featured Speaker at the afternoon church service in Lily Dale.

During the summer season, the afternoon services are held in Lily Dale's historic Auditorium starting at 2:30 p.m. The Auditorium platform has been a place for speakers of spiritual philosophy, social causes, and Spiritualism. Several big names have spoken there - Susan B. Anthony, Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, and more! I have had the honor of speaking on the summer platform for over a decade.

For those of you who are not familiar with this service, here is a basic outline for this one hour event:
  • Lecture from the featured speaker - on this particular date, I will present a lecture on a spiritual subject.
  • Messages from Spirit - demonstrations of mediumship are presented by the medium (Brenda Hawkins, I believe).
  • Music - songs with live music accompaniment (hopefully from our very historic and beautiful pipe organ)
So there you go - if you are coming to the service, you will share sacred time with me!

Armadillo

Recently, a client emailed me with a thank you and an explanation for specific information that came through during her Mediumship Reading with me.

This is such a wonderful example of how our spirit loved ones pay attention to our lives... and laugh with us!  I am sharing the story and her name with her permission below....

"Recently during opening weekend I had a reading with you and you asked me a question that I never did answer. I was so shocked by the question and insistence of my loved one to have you ask that I was speechless.

When we walked in to your room and sat down I saw a shadow walk past me towards you and hoped it was my father or my aunt, turns out it was my father. Towards the end you said, "What this about an Armadillo, you have to tell me what that means" and then the monks came and we were interrupted. Here is the back story.

On my there while driving through Allegheny National Forest there was a dead animal on the side of the road. I immediately said to my nieces, was that an Armadillo to which they laughed and said we don't have them here. We laughed about it the rest of the way there and any time someone saw something on the road they would said look another Armadillo.

So, when you asked me that question I was shock and a little embarrassed that my father heard me, after all we chased an Armadillo in Oklahoma when I was a little girl and I know what they look like.

Thank you for a great reading and conformation that he is well and happy on his next leg of his journey, can't wait to see him again. Who knows maybe he will tease me about the misstep.

Feel free to share in any way you choose and use my name as well. If this helps people in any way that is the true blessing. --- Debbie H."

Your Inner Guide class at JCC 4-26-2017

This spring, at Jamestown Community College,  I will be teaching:

"Your Inner Guide"

Wednesday April 26th, 2017

There is a power in each of us which gives us strength, comfort, and peace.

We use this power to some degree in our daily lives, yet few realize its full potential.

In this class, learn how to use your intuition to receive guidance, wisdom, and daily upliftment; focus on your goals; understand events from a spiritual perspective; and increase awareness of your personal inner journey of enlightenment.

In-class exercises will include a guided meditation and examples of how to develop your conscious spiritual connection

To register, contact the JCC Continuing Education Department at 716-338-1005.

Lessons from a Child: The Perfect Tractor

I am often struck with INSPIRATION in everyday circumstances.  It is as if the clouds part and a beam of light enters into me and I see a positive message in my situation.  I gratefully accept these spiritual insights.

My children often are part of my discovery, gratitude, and inspirations.  Thomas Kelly in his book “A Testament of Devotion” talks about (page 45) how the “last fruit of holy obedience is the simplicity of the trusting child, the simplicity of the children of God.  It is the simplicity which lies beyond complexity…and on the yonder side of sophistication… it is the beginning of spiritual maturity…and the mark of this simplified life is radiant joy.  As Kelly describes it, “We are called to put our hands trustingly in His hand and walk the holy way, in no anxiety assuredly resting in Him.”
“According to your Faith, be it unto you.”

My children have a book titled “Tractor Factory”. It is a pop-up book with moving paper parts.  Over the years, this book has been read many, many times and the pages have endured the pulls and yanks of little fingers.  Some parts have not remained intact.  So when we were reading this book the other day (again!), I silently bemoaned the fact that it was not whole and complete.

And when we get to the final page, we are presented with the completed project and the workers are applauding enthusiastically.  And this is the part we read, “And here it is… the perfect tractor.”
The irony is not lost on me or my children.  After years of yanks and pulls, this “perfect” tractor is missing its’ front and back wheels and its’ back hoe.  A reject of tractor if you ever saw one!

But that day, I felt something different.  Perhaps it was the way my 3 year old read the words with so much pride and belief in the wholeness of this tractor… as if he truly saw the wheels and backhoe there, present and accounted for.  Like that tractor was ready and able to perform mechanical feats and the monumental tasks that big machinery always impresses my 3 year old with.   The cynicism and internal criticism died away.  And a thought came to me that it IS and always WILL be the PERFECT TRACTOR.

One of the great Spiritual Truths is that each individual (being a concept of the divine Mind) is held in that mind as a PERFECT IDEA.  We have been perfectly conceived and are always held in the perfect mind of God as perfect beings.

Sometimes we feel like broken down tractors, missing our wheels and abilities to do things, to cope with events… we feel like we’ve told others and sought out help and gone into the factory for an overhaul and still don’t feel “right”.  We may be carrying baggage such as WORRY, gossip, Criticism, Ego, and super sensitiveness.

That is the moment we must remember, “As a Spark of the Divine, I am (and you are) whole and complete with unlimited potential for love, peace, and JOY!”
