Lessons from a Child: The Perfect Tractor

I am often struck with INSPIRATION in everyday circumstances.  It is as if the clouds part and a beam of light enters into me and I see a positive message in my situation.  I gratefully accept these spiritual insights.

My children often are part of my discovery, gratitude, and inspirations.  Thomas Kelly in his book “A Testament of Devotion” talks about (page 45) how the “last fruit of holy obedience is the simplicity of the trusting child, the simplicity of the children of God.  It is the simplicity which lies beyond complexity…and on the yonder side of sophistication… it is the beginning of spiritual maturity…and the mark of this simplified life is radiant joy.  As Kelly describes it, “We are called to put our hands trustingly in His hand and walk the holy way, in no anxiety assuredly resting in Him.”
“According to your Faith, be it unto you.”

My children have a book titled “Tractor Factory”. It is a pop-up book with moving paper parts.  Over the years, this book has been read many, many times and the pages have endured the pulls and yanks of little fingers.  Some parts have not remained intact.  So when we were reading this book the other day (again!), I silently bemoaned the fact that it was not whole and complete.

And when we get to the final page, we are presented with the completed project and the workers are applauding enthusiastically.  And this is the part we read, “And here it is… the perfect tractor.”
The irony is not lost on me or my children.  After years of yanks and pulls, this “perfect” tractor is missing its’ front and back wheels and its’ back hoe.  A reject of tractor if you ever saw one!

But that day, I felt something different.  Perhaps it was the way my 3 year old read the words with so much pride and belief in the wholeness of this tractor… as if he truly saw the wheels and backhoe there, present and accounted for.  Like that tractor was ready and able to perform mechanical feats and the monumental tasks that big machinery always impresses my 3 year old with.   The cynicism and internal criticism died away.  And a thought came to me that it IS and always WILL be the PERFECT TRACTOR.

One of the great Spiritual Truths is that each individual (being a concept of the divine Mind) is held in that mind as a PERFECT IDEA.  We have been perfectly conceived and are always held in the perfect mind of God as perfect beings.

Sometimes we feel like broken down tractors, missing our wheels and abilities to do things, to cope with events… we feel like we’ve told others and sought out help and gone into the factory for an overhaul and still don’t feel “right”.  We may be carrying baggage such as WORRY, gossip, Criticism, Ego, and super sensitiveness.

That is the moment we must remember, “As a Spark of the Divine, I am (and you are) whole and complete with unlimited potential for love, peace, and JOY!”

Lessons from a Child: Simple things amuse

A ball of string.  My three-year-old found a ball of string and unrolled it all throughout the downstairs of the house saying he was "making a road."  It's just like the little boy with the dash Trail from the Family Circle comic.  Or a cat... He is so delightfully occupied that I think we can safely return all of his Christmas presents to the store now.  But we should probably keep the cardboard boxes.  *smile*

Lessons from a Child: Floating in leaves

What a magnificent autumn!  This year, many Lily Dale visitors and locals alike have commented on the glorious weather and the spectacular colors of the trees.  Mother Nature has been particularly perfect in her "chemistry experiment" (as I am calling it).  It must have been the Divine Right blend of temperature and plant synergy.

And this formula also means:

autumn leaves = leaf piles are in great supply = FUN!

To their great delight, my children discovered an EXTRA large and EXTRA deep pile of dry leaves to play in.  While the older boy dove into the mound and practically swam in the leafy depths, the younger boy waded in up to the top of his head.  Both were smiling from ear to ear.

And of course, I joined them.  I dropped down into the pile and sprawled like I was lying on a bean bag.  I sank a few inches from the surface so I was mainly hidden from view, but I could still gaze at the sky above.

The leaves were warm and insulating as they buoyantly floated me.  It felt like a "trust float" when someone gently supports your body in the water while you close your eyes and relax all your muscles.  While I "drifted in the Cosmos" of leaf-shaped stars, my children frolicked and their laughter infused the leaves with more Joy.

A lady walked by.  She smiled at the happy faces popping up and out of the huge mountain of leaves.  Nestled sweetly in my leaf burrow, I almost said to her..."Come on in! I highly recommend you try the leaves.  Best float I've had all Fall."  But I was enjoying my quiet comfort too much and didn't want break the spell by speaking.

May you also find and know the blessing of Floating .... trusting quietly the Divine flow in your life and allowing yourself to be buoyed up by the Inspiration of Spirit and comforted by these kinds of sweet Moments.

Clairvoyance & Symbol Interpretation class at JCC 10-26-2016

This month, I will be teaching a spiritual development class at Jamestown Community College:

Clairvoyance & Symbol Interpretation class
Wednesday October 26, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jamestown NY campus

Symbols are an important facet of clairvoyance and the visual imagery associated with seeing intuitively.  Perhaps more than any other tool, images and symbols can provide a deeply personal look into self-discovery and one's search for individual and spiritual meaning.  In this class, we will discuss how to look clairvoyantly for the symbols in your life and explore methods of symbol interpretation for meditation, dream interpretation, spirit communication, and most importantly, personal awareness.  Come and learn how to work with the symbols, images, and messages of your soul.
I strongly suggest that your REGISTER EARLY for these classes. Call JCC at 716-338-1005. See you in class!
