5-4-2011 "Lily Dale History" Class

I teach spiritual development classes at Jamestown Community College.  And NOW is the time to register for my JCC spring classes!

On the evening of Wednesday May 4 (in 3 weeks), I will be teaching "Lily Dale History".  This is a non-credit course sponsored by the Jamestown Community College Continuing Education Department & the Chautauqua County Visitor's Bureau.  Here's the class synopsis:

Deep in the heart of Chautauqua County is a special place called Lily Dale, a Spiritualist community that is the worlds’ largest center for the science, philosophy, and religion of Spiritualism.
How did Lily Dale come into existence? And what has propelled it forward for over 130 years?
Learn about the history of Lily Dale and the evolution of modern-day mediumship, spirit communication, and Spiritualism from spiritual medium and teacher Willa White, a registered Lily Dale medium and resident of this charming village.
Usually my JCC classes meet the college in Jamestown NY (about a half hour from Lily Dale), however this time we will have the wonderful opportunity to meet on my home turf in Lily Dale at the Assembly Hall.  With the many pictures of the Spiritualism's pioneers on the walls, the Assembly Hall is a great place to discuss the history of Lily Dale.

As a special bonus:  My class will be allowed exclusive access to Lily Dale’s Museum (which is normally closed during the off-season) for an intimate look at some of the museum’s special artifacts.

See the above photo: That is me standing in the Lily Dale Museum among some of the artifacts and portraits.  That is a spirit trumpet in my hand, one of the items used for physical phenomena in old-time seances.

Class size is limited, so register EARLY.  The class fee is $35.  Contact the JCC Center for Continuing Education at 716-338-1005.  This 3 hour class class starts promptly at 6:00 p.m.

Hope to see you at class!

The Lily Dale History class was a success! We had a great group from the surrounding area. And a big thank you to Ron Nagy, current LD historian, for being on hand to answer our questions during our visit to the LD Museum.
Blessings, ~Willa

Lily Dale: The Season

"The Season". *** To those of you are not familiar with Lily Dale, this phrase may seem to indicate the time of year (winter, spring, summer, fall). But for those who know and love Lily Dale, it's so much more. And I shall attempt to describe some of "The Season" to you now. Running from usually the last weekend of June until the day before Labor Day, "The Season" takes place during the summer months in a spiritual community called Lily Dale. Whether summer visitors come for a day, a week, a month, or a season, they mention that they feel "an amazing peace when I enter the gate". For many, "The Season" has been a time for spiritual pilgrimage and renewal, education and fellowship, evidence of spirit contact, and healing. During "The Season", there is plenty to do every minute of the day. The schedule is abundant with healing services, spirit message services, thought exchanges, lectures, circles, seminars, and classes. In ...

Flashes of light

I am a medium , so I 'see' things. *smile* Well, every now and then, I see a small light. (And I don't mean an orb or a light flying around the room like Tinkerbell.) I am talking about a small pinprick of light that remains stationary and lasts for 2-3 seconds. It resembles a star from the night sky, albeit a very miniature one. This little 'flash of light' is a spirit. Sometimes I see a 'flash of light' (or a miniature star) around clients during readings --- either near the client's chair or in another part of the room. Also, I remember seeing them in a museum, on the trail in the woods, here at home, and at church. When I see that pinprick of light, I focus on asking the spirit to provide me with more information and to share their essence . Much like seeing spirit in side vision , it's a way that we can perceive those in spirit. These flashes of light are just another way for spirit loved ones to communicate that they are with us. In fact, some...

Your job during a mediumship reading

If you are the person who is receiving a mediumship reading and desiring spirit contact, you have a very important job --- CONFIRMATION. This means confirmation either by your own personal knowledge or thru the personal knowledge of another person known to the spirit. During the course of the mediumship reading, you can confirm the information that you know to be true. And some information may require validation after the reading with friends or other family members who are privy to this certain info. Here are some examples of ways in which a spirit may try to validate who they are: The spirit's personality traits or physical characteristics may be described. This is part of what I call the Essence of Spirit . Most spirits are willing to share how they passed with the medium. Sometimes the spirit will give names very clearly or just the initial. Often spirits will give important dates of reference to further validate themselves. They have been known to mention other family members,...
