I love to teach!

The past couple of weeks, I have had so much fun teaching the Aura classes.  And as usual at JCC, the students were wonderful!  In part One 'Understanding the Aura' , the students learned about the chakras, the layers of the aura, and how the aura related to its' environment and other people.  They also had the opportunity to see and feel their own aura, and well as see the auras of other students.  And my healing chakra-cleansing meditation blissed everyone out. In part Two 'Advanced Auras' , the students measured and sensed the aura using various techniques, practiced opening the chakras and cleansing the aura of unwanted energy, and seeing a partner's energy on a deeper level.  Many of them remarked how much they enjoyed measuring the aura with the pendulum. Students came away with the knowledge that they each have an aura and a soul.  They recognize they are on spiritual paths and are excited to practice what they have learned....

Bridging the dementia gap

Perhaps you notice in non-lucid moments, that your loved one is “out” of their body a bit. Or perhaps you observe their soul hovering when they are sleeping. The withdrawl of the astral body during unconscious states is normal and especially frequent with those experiencing Alzheimers, dementia, and/or the dying process. There is one wonderful benefit when this happens ...   During unconscious states, you can speak with their soul. Their soul knows the Truth. Remember that communication with the Soul goes beyond memory loss, forgetfulness, cognitive function, and consciousness… this is soul contact.  And soul contact is a valuable tool to maintain a sense of continued connection with loved ones. How do you speak to the Soul? Speak to their Divine Self. Allow your higher self to speak with their higher self. Use gentle, unconditionally-loving words and thoughts. This is also a wonderful way to resolve negative feelings and create/maintain a healthy relat...

Meditation: Your circle of support

Sometimes we cannot avoid being alone; others cannot always be physically at our side. As we make our way through frightening experiences, a meditation that draws on support of others can be helpful.  Prayer that evokes the presence of trusted loved ones can support us even then. Here is a meditation that will help you acknowledge and feel your circle of support: Close your eyes and picture yourself in a calming place. Ask for the highest and the best.  Then invite, one by one, wise people whose love you trust to form a circle around you. These wisdom figures can be living or dead, religious or not. People sometimes choose Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, a favorite saint or spiritual guide, grandparents and parents, friends and mentors. Once you have filled out your circle, simply BE in the encompassing presence and take in anything that comes to you. Sometimes it is merely a sense of love and comfort. At other times there is shared wisdom. Remember that you can return t...

Praying with my feet

A man marching with Dr Martin Luther King Jr in Alabama explained his experience by saying,"My feet were praying." That is how I felt on Saturday morning as I participated in the Salvation Army 5K Walk/Run. When I first decided to take part in this event, I knew it was a worthy cause and that by walking in it I would be supporting many individuals and families. Proceeds from the event went to benefit the Salvation Army Anew Center in Jamestown NY which provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, rape, and child abuse.  As I walked, I prayed.  I prayed for all those who need help in those ways.  And even though there were other people around me walking and talking, I silently prayed.  And because these physical actions accompanied prayers, I was experiencing  Embodied Prayer .  "My feet were praying." You see, our bodies can be places where prayer is actively happening. We can use...

the Third Eye

Development of the "third eye" is strongly associated with intuitive unfoldment and clairvoyance . The third eye is located above the physical eyes in the middle of the forehead and is also known as the brow chakra.  The third eye is often referred to as "the Eye of Knowledge". And many Hindus wear a tilaka to represent the third eye and some Hindu women wear a bindi. With third eye clairvoyance, visions show internally in the mind's eye (like on a movie screen).  For me, this manifests occasionally as still pictures and mostly as extremely-fast moving pictures (sometimes as 3-D images - which I think is funny because it's the "3rd" eye).  Clairvoyance helps me to see spirit . In the beginning of my intuitive and mediumship development, I would occasionally feel a tightening in my brow chakra area, akin to a sinus headache.  I eventually realized this was my 3rd eye getting used to being operated on a frequent basis. This led me to un...

Radiance of the Soul

During my sessions with clients, I frequently notice their Inner Light.  I also call this the Radiance of the Soul.  I see this at other times as well, but quite noticably when I am in the "zone". This goes beyond seeing the smile in a person's eyes or mouth. The soul radiates light outward and the person has a "glow".  Regardless of the person's level of physical beauty, the inner beauty of the soul shines through. The brightness of the glow seems to correspond with: level of spiritual enlightenment positive nature of the person happiness wisdom Sometimes I notice the glow for the entire duration of the session.  And sometimes I see just a quick glimpse, a flash of soul light. For you see, there is a sacred energy that flows through each one of us.  And a person's etheric light flows from the inner spaces of the spiritual body (soul) and shines through the physical body (matter).  When I see the Inner Light...

Lessons from a Child: Dancing the S-pirit Way

My little boy is dancing! Not long ago, my baby son started walking and now he has progressed to dancing. [soooo cute!] He has always expressed a strong affinity for music. Keeping the beat with his hand, banging pots and pans and any other objects he can find, happy smiles when he listens and creates music, and singing "ba-ba-ba" with songs are great evidence of his love of music. But seriously, a dancing one year old? For the past few days, when he hears music he stomps his feet in a quick clogging style reminiscent of tap dancing or perhaps a flamenco style. Then he spins in a slow circle. His body masterfully completes the circle and returns to clogging. And then he sways. Although his movements are slower and more deliberate, my husband and I almost miss it because we're busy chuckling about our "riverdancing" son. When I watch my son, I see some of the activities of indigenous cultures. And his dancing cements it for me. So natural and freeing, dancing is ...

Lessons from a Child: Telephone Game

I attended a birthday party recently. The event was for a friend turning 34, but with all of the children in attendance you would have thought it was a party for a little girl. The celebration was a huge success. Children and adults fought goodnaturedly over paper plates depicting Disney princesses such as Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Jasmine, and Belle. After much consideration, I ended up with my own princess plate with a generous portion of funfetti cake. With girlie squeals and pink heart pendants containing grape flavored lip gloss, the little girls were having a blast getting the adults to play the Telephone Game. Do you remember that game? The Telephone Game is also known in various parts of the world as broken telephone, whisper down the lane, gossip, silent mail, and telephone without wires. You lean over to your neighbor and whisper a phrase such as "My purple shirt has pizza on it." Your neighbor leans over to their neighbor and passes the phrase on. The ...

Listening to Your Inner Guide, Part 5

...continued from Listening to Your Inner Guide, Part 4 Our inner guide is our connection with God and therefore our connection with all knowledge and peace. Here are some ways to strengthen your process of inner listening: 1. Still your mind. Let go of your ideas of what you THINK you need, and CREATE a clean slate in your mind, so that you can hear your SOUL. 2. Listening becomes more difficult when we want a certain answer or confirmation. We end up closing our minds to receiving the REAL answer that is right for us. Many of our questions are just calls for confirmation of what we already believe. 3. God's will is not dependent on our ability to hear, act, or listen. Instead of making judgments about what should be happening, the only real request becomes "Show us the blessing or the lesson." 4. You might not get the answer you think you want, but it will be the right one. Be patient. The answer will come at the right time. As Spiritualists, we often say DIVINE RIGHT T...

Remote Viewing Exercise w/ the 5 Cs

This next exercise is a visualization exercise. Please keep your eyes open. I will do a brief intro meditation to get you into it, and then we will EXPERIENCE! Please take a few deep breaths...inhale...exhale...relaxing...Breathing in...breathing out...enjoying this moment...relaxing... Feel your body relaxing……. Now, in your mind, picture your front door…. As you look at your front door, view what color the door is…. What is the door made of? Is there a window in the door? Does it have a knob or handle? Now, you are opening the door... Does it swing to the right or left? What do you see first when you open the door? A hallway, jackets and shoes, your pet coming toward you to greet you... if not, what do you see? What smells greet you? What do you hear? What do you feel? Okay...now after taking these moments to recall what you experienced... return slowly to the present...to now... Many of you probably visualized either the doorknob or handle in your hand... and felt the knob or handle...

Trusting Your First Response

Now that you have a foundation of the method of feeling (see Yes/No Intuitive Response post) ... I want you to join me in the next exercise. This is about TRUSTING your FIRST response. At one time or another you probably played a word association game. A person would say a word and you would respond immediately with the first word that popped into your head. Some people need to rekindle that feeling of trusting their first response. This eliminates fear because INTUITION takes over. So play along with me in this next exercise. Speed is everything. ABSOLUTELY NO THINKING ALLOWED!!! You are to just blurt out your word. And you better blurt one fast because the next word will be coming soon. (Please blurt this word to yourself for now. hahaha) Okay, ready, set, go... on your toes! (Scroll down slowly - one word at time.) Zebra Paper Computer Medium White Dream Tree Dragon Okay, don't worry if you blanked, this all takes practice. Some of you probably had an immediate response. No thi...

Yes/No Intuitive Response

Today, I ask you open your mind to the part of your being which is constantly in touch with your highest expression. Some of us have consciously accessed our intuition most of our lives, some are just starting. The principles are the same. The most important one being that we have a "yes/no" response. In fact, we use the “yes/no” response ALL of the time... when making decisions, when determining our purpose and course of action, when defining who we are. I'm going to introduce the first exercise in order to encourage you to TRUST yourself. I want you to know that there is no wrong way to experience this. I also want you to remember WHERE you experienced the responses. Where in your body. Remember you will be responding "yes" or "no" and remember WHERE you feel the response. It may be in different places or "feel" different. Okay, here we go!!! Are you male? Are you female? Is your name "James"? Are reading a blog right now? Okay......
