Yesterday I served as the chairperson of the Sunday morning church service at the Church of the Living Spirit (my home church). It was a wonderful gathering of my spiritual family.
This particular Sunday, I had the additional bonus of being on the platform with my parents [my spiritual and biological family]. We have served together often over the years in some variation or another, but I am always impressed by what I learn from them still. [You would think I had heard it all by now! *smile*]
My father, Bill White, presented a lecture about "Vision Quests". He detailed the nature of the vision quest and gave some poignant examples of vision quests. Vision quests involve going inward to develop a conscious awareness of the soul's connection with the Divine and usually have a healing and/or intuitive result.
I especially enjoyed his historical information in regard to Lily Dale's beginnings being a direct result of a vision quest and healing experience by Jeremiah Carter. And I am looking forward to sharing the information with those of you who attend my "Lily Dale History" class in May 2010! [see my website's Coming Events page for more info about the class.]
My mother, Bonnie White, was the featured medium. With her usual gentle joy, she gave uplifting and inspirational messages to various individuals. She was also delighted to share with us a new way that Spirit indicates where she is to go in the audience - seeing a hand above the head of the intended recipient of the spirit message. At one point she saw hands above everyone's heads and offered a beautiful group message that we each have the hand of God working with us in our lives. What sweet comfort!
My parents have always encouraged the development of my mediumship and spiritual growth. In fact, their active spiritual search has molded mine and my spiritual search has continued to shape theirs. Our spiritual journeys have intertwined and we assist in each others' growth. I am filled with gratitude to have the parents that I do and give thanks for the opportunity to serve Spirit with them.
And it was also great to see some of you (my clients and blogreaders) there yesterday!
