Blogging pause

As some of you may have noticed, I am not blogging much lately.  I have plenty of spiritual thoughts and experiences to share it's just that every time I think about blogging, life picks up the pace. I will literally sit down at the computer to type out a Blogpost and without fail one (or both) of my sons captures my attention OR my husband needs me OR a client calls, and the blogging thought disappears with a *poof*. Living is a full-time job, after all.  I am human and I still have to deal with mundane life stuff, such as ... cooking meals, washing laundry, sweeping and mopping floors, and other housekeeping getting my children to and from school and extracurricular activites supporting my husband in his interests connecting with and helping my close friends/family through their life events planting, weeding, and maintaining a vegetable garden improving Also, I'm sure those of you who are familiar with snow know that in...

Recognizing Spirit class

Thank you to all the wonderful people who attended my 'Recognizing Spirit Contact' class.  I was happy to introduce you to many techniques for fostering Spirit contact.  In addition to the standard ways of seeing, hearing, and feeling, Spirit uses symbols, messages, and dreams to convey impressions.  We had a fabulous discussion about several ways loved ones in Spirit communicate and the various signs they offer.  I really appreciated the many personal stories those from the group shared.  The vast majority of you have sensed Spirit at some point in your life.  Parents, grandparents, siblings, children, friends, and pets have presented themselves in one way or another to you.  Keep up the good work!  And remember that you are your own best Mediums!

Experiencing Lily Dale class

Thank you to all those who attended my " Lily Dale Experience " class last night.  Many of you have been students in my classes before.  Some of you met me for the first time.  Last night, I was your "tour guide".  You each had the opportunity to participate in a healing and spirit message service in Lily Dale and get your questions about Spiritualism, Lily Dale, mediumship, and spiritual healing answered. Comments from the evening:  "What a wonderful class!"  "The spirit message I received was very correct."  "I was glad to hear from my dad [in Spirit] tonight."  "Thank you, we had an amazing time!" I am so happy I could help you to better understand Lily Dale and the development of your own spiritual gifts more.  I know you will all return to Lily Dale again for classes, church services, and especially to feel the peace of Lily Dale. See you next week at my " Recognizing Spirit Contact " class! ...

On Wednesday October 14th, I will be teaching "Recognizing Spirit Contact", a non-credit course, sponsored by Jamestown Community College. Join me for a lively evening of looking at the ways the ‘dead’ communicate with us as well as learn techniques that can foster contact. You may be your own best medium. Direct vs Indirect public mediumship

For the past few days, I have been giving lots of spirit messages during the 5:30 p.m. Message Service at the Inspiration Stump.  This is due to the fact that this particular week, my mother Bonnie White is the chairperson for this service so I am helping her out.  (It's good to support family!)  Before today's message service, another medium and I were discussing the different styles of public mediumship (aka standup messagework).  The two main methods are direct and indirect. Let's start with Indirect :   With the indirect method, the medium gives out a few pieces of information and then sees who can take the message.  Many people refer to this as British-style mediumship.  Typically, it takes a bit more time to give the message because of working to identify the recipient.  Often, more than one person can accept the message and there can be a bit of back and forth to establish what pieces of information the various aud...

We are under Grace

Thank you to everyone who came to hear my lecture and messages at the Sunday church service at the Church of the Living Spirit on April 12th!!!  That day, the church was packed.  When we ran out of chairs, more had to be added.  And when we ran out of hymnals, folks shared.  Then, at the luncheon, they ran out of food.  Thankfully, my family and I were the last few people in line, so we were able to just go home for our mid-day meal.  I was glad it didn't happen to someone who was visiting Lily Dale for the day as they would have had to go off-grounds for lunch.  I expected at least a little grumbling from my boys, but they all took it graciously in stride.  I whipped up food in short order, and our family bowed our heads and blessed our time and meal together.  In the days following the church service, many of you have approached me to let me know how much you appreciated my lectur...

The robins are singing!

It has been a long, brutal winter. Lily Dale usually gets more than its' fair share of snow, but this year takes the cake.  This winter has been especially fierce.  The snow is higher than average and the temperature colder.  On the nicer days, my older son enjoys climbing the highest snow banks created by the snowplows --- some over 10 feet tall.  Bitterly cold temperatures have frozen water & heat pipes, along with noses and toes.  Thus far, our lowest temperature during the day has been -24 degrees F and windchill has made it -40.  Ice and snow damage have effected many in Lily Dale.  Large pieces of ice have fallen on roofs, vehicles, windows, and more.  Ice damming has produced leaks and discussions of where to put the bowls and buckets to capture drips.  But today, after this avalanche of snow and ice, we have sunshine, blue skies, and sightings of red-breasted robins (the generally accepted harbingers of Spri...

Cultivating the spiritual path

Our lives are so busy in modern society.  Our appointment books are completely full and we're always running here and there.  We often complain there isn't enough time for cultivating the Spiritual Path.  However, whenever we have a spare moment, we work more or fill in the gap with other activities.  We have time for many other things, but we hardly ever have time to nourish ourselves spiritually by attending spiritual development classes and meditating.  This is a common refrain from my students, clients, and peers. As a wife and mother with a young family, I understand this.  Right now, I am in the child-rearing phase of life.  And my time is largely taken up with mundane living.  I must "chop wood and carry water."  Occasionally, in the midst of a task of drudgery, I sigh and look longingly at my book waiting for me on the table.  Or I will think about the church service or spiritual class I...

Private words for your ears only

Often, I will say to a client: "These are your spirit loved ones private words for you.  You may not wish to share them with anyone else."  After her reading today, one of my clients told me that she had a reading with me six years ago and she enjoyed it very much.  She went on to share with me a surprising feature of her recording from that reading.  Back then, I was still using audio cassette tapes.  She says when I began the reading I tested the cassette tape in front of her, then rewound the tape back to the beginning, and recorded the session.    After the reading, the person she had traveled to Lily Dale with wanted to listen to her reading.  She didn't feel comfortable but she let them pop the tape into the car's cassette player.  The tape didn't work.  It was blank!  She felt enormously relieved. She knew that tape functioned because I had tested it in front of her.  So later on at ...
